What this helps you do

Build spatial relationships that you can frame with a camera.

When to use it

You are blocking a scene, placing a prop precisely, or checking how dragging interacts with animation.

Before you begin

Use the desktop app and check the edition requirement: Basic / Pro. The current published version is shown above. Confirm the selected item and playhead before changing anything. This audit does not verify a physical Windows device.

Step by step

Screenshots: Mac v1.7.0 Follow each step with the real app interface below. Select an image to enlarge the marked area.

  1. Expand a category in Scene objects and click a prop, or drag it into the viewport and check the placement preview before dropping it.
    • 1Add an item from a category
Figure 1 Expand an object category and select an item to add. Select existing items in the list below.
  2. Select the prop in the viewport or list. W selects Move, E selects Rotate and R selects Scale.
    • 1Edit / Camera views
Figure 2 Use Edit to arrange the scene, and Camera beside it to check framing.
  3. Enter coordinates or angles in the transform controls when you need precision. Check the visual result immediately.
    • 1Position X / Y / Z
Figure 3 Inspect position and rotation in Position & orientation. X, Y and Z are the three axes.
  4. Check whether keyframes or a motion path drive the object. A base placement, an existing transform key and a path have different edit scopes. Undo and reposition the playhead if needed.
Figure 4 The transform-key list records time, position, rotation and interpolation for each key.
    • 1Timing constraint and speed
Figure 4b This example starts at 1 second and takes 5 seconds. The selector below controls the speed profile.

The character library lists block, cylinder, box-body and wooden mannequins, followed by Pose. Adding the first three is a Basic capability; the wooden mannequin and pose editor require Pro. Animated blocking retains its advanced-feature entitlement.

Changes in 1.6.0

Click insertion uses the support surface at the current viewport center and tries to avoid existing objects; dragging uses the previewed drop point. A list lock prevents 3D viewport picking only: it does not hide the object, freeze animation or prevent selection and editing from the list. Imported skinned models also support position, rotation and scale handles and numeric fields.

Settings and edit scope

Control or conceptMeaning and boundary
PositionX/Y/Z are in meters. Y is height; inspect the bottom of the prop and its support surface.
RotationAngles are in degrees. Object size and animated position are different controls.
CountBasic allows up to 20 objects; complete existing projects can still be opened and saved.

Check the result

The prop is placed where expected, the drop matches its preview, and Undo restores its previous placement.

Troubleshooting and recovery

Changing a base coordinate does not replace a path-driven position. Edit the path to change its route. Name and size remain global settings.

If the result is unexpected, stop playback, check the selected item and time, and use Undo before making another change. Keep a backup rather than repeatedly overwriting the project.
