What this helps you do
Connect technical terms to the task you are doing.
When to use it
A control uses an unfamiliar term, or bilingual terminology is causing confusion with a collaborator.
Before you begin
Use the desktop app and check the edition requirement: Basic / Pro. The current published version is shown above. Confirm the selected item and playhead before changing anything. This audit does not verify a physical Windows device.
Step by step
Screenshots: Mac v1.7.0 Follow each step with the real app interface below. Select an image to enlarge the marked area.
- Identify whether you need to change space, framing, timing or delivery, then look up the matching term.
- 1Project & common actions
- 2Objects & templates
- 3Selected item properties
- 4Timeline
Figure 1 Workspace map: objects on the left, viewport in the center, properties on the right and timeline below. - A camera setup specifies position and aim; shot size describes how large the subject appears in frame.
Figure 2 Subject and composition: check the subject before adjusting shot size, camera angle and screen position. - A keyframe records a state at a moment, a path describes a route, and an action clip describes what a character does.
Figure 3 Start and end keys on the timeline. Moving a key changes the timing. - Previewing and taking a camera are different, as are an editable project and a video. Resolve ambiguity with a specific object and time.
Figure 4 Choose the delivery purpose first: watch a previs, create production material, or continue editing/back up.
Settings and edit scope
| Control or concept | Meaning and boundary |
|---|---|
| Shot size | The subject scale in the image, such as close-up, medium or wide. |
| Camera movement | A change in camera position, aim or focal length over time. |
| Keyframe | A property state recorded at a particular time. |
| Previs | A simplified visual plan made before production. |
Check the result
You can describe the next operation with an object, camera, time and expected image.
Troubleshooting and recovery
Follow the current client’s English labels. Your own project names, character names and dialogue are not translated by a language switch.
If the result is unexpected, stop playback, check the selected item and time, and use Undo before making another change. Keep a backup rather than repeatedly overwriting the project.
