What this helps you do
Align dialogue, timed events and reference sound.
When to use it
Shots must follow speech timing, or reference sound is being used to align characters and images.
Before you begin
Use the desktop app and check the edition requirement: Pro / active trial. The current published version is shown above. Confirm the selected item and playhead before changing anything. This audit does not verify a physical Windows device.
Step by step
Screenshots: Mac v1.7.0 Follow each step with the real app interface below. Select an image to enlarge the marked area.
- Select an existing character, add dialogue and set its text and interval. Resolve overlapping speech by the same character.
Figure 1 A dialogue line is loaded in this example. Check its speaker, text, start and duration. - When importing dialogue, check speaker matching and explicit timing first. Resolve missing speakers rather than letting the system guess.
Figure 2 Parse and preview imported dialogue, check speakers and timing, then apply. - After importing reference audio, check its offset, volume and synchronization during playback.
Figure 3 Reference audio in the timeline toolbar imports timing audio; it does not automatically become exported video sound. - Add timed visibility or environment events on the event track when needed and seek to verify each one. Use a complete project bundle to carry the audio.

Paste or import TXT, Markdown, CSV, JSON, SRT or VTT. Review speaker matching, start and duration before atomic import. Click a line in Properties to jump there. Cross-speaker overlap is allowed; same-speaker overlap is rejected. Explicitly choose whether to extend the program for later lines. Muting reference audio affects both playback and export.
Changes in 1.7.0
Viewport dialogue sits above actual character height and follows scene occlusion; it does not cover menus or appear in final exports. Video can include the project audio track, respecting volume, offset and mute. Full project backups retain audio references and settings.
Settings and edit scope
| Control or concept | Meaning and boundary |
|---|---|
| Dialogue | References an actual character and interval. Different speakers may overlap; one speaker cannot speak two lines at once. |
| Reference audio | The audio file lives in local media storage. Metadata in a project JSON does not mean the sound file is included. |
Check the result
Dialogue, events and audio align on the timeline, and the media remains available after reopening a complete bundle.
Troubleshooting and recovery
Check audio behavior in the actual exported file rather than assuming reference audio is mixed into a previs video.
If the result is unexpected, stop playback, check the selected item and time, and use Undo before making another change. Keep a backup rather than repeatedly overwriting the project.
