Multicamera monitoring and program cuts

Distinguish camera arrangements from the camera chosen for the program.

What this helps you do

Distinguish camera arrangements from the camera chosen for the program.

When to use it

Several cameras observe the same scene time and you need to control the image used in the program.

Before you begin

Use the desktop app and check the edition requirement: Pro / active trial. The current published version is shown above. Confirm the selected item and playhead before changing anything. This audit does not verify a physical Windows device.

Step by step

Screenshots: Mac v1.7.0 Follow each step with the real app interface below. Select an image to enlarge the marked area.

  1. Save your project before opening More → Example projects → Multicam action scene, or build a multicamera scene from scratch. Cameras have stable identities and independent motion durations.
Figure 1 The camera list in the multicamera example. Check each camera’s name and identity.
  2. Open camera monitoring to inspect the same global time across cameras. Collapse camera monitoring is a button; hover over Cut in for its explanation. Previewing a camera alone does not change the program edit.
Figure 2 A loaded two-camera example. Monitors compare camera images; monitoring does not itself change the program.
  3. Cut in the intended camera at the chosen time, then inspect the upper program segment. The lower blue bar is an independent motion range and need not match the cut length. A camera can be used repeatedly.
Figure 3 Two segments in the program cut track. The cut at 4 seconds selects a different camera.
  4. Changing a program segment changes its adoption range, independently of actor movement and camera-motion duration. Check locks and neighboring cuts, then play the actual program. After the last motion key the camera holds its final pose; extend motion separately if needed.

Changes in 1.6.0

Add camera creates a new static camera without inheriting another camera’s path or follow settings; explicit duplication remains separate. The 3D editing view and monitor cards share camera numbering. The upper track shows program cuts, while camera rows show independent motion and keys without an extra adoption bar. Drag the final segment’s right edge to change the program endpoint without trimming actor or independent camera animation. Clicking a cut selects its monitor; double-clicking a monitor selects the corresponding cut/camera without changing program adoption.

Changes in 1.7.0

Timeline snapping can align to keys, cuts and clip endpoints on other visible tracks and shows a vertical guide. Without a loop range, multicamera program playback still stops at the program end. With a loop range, it follows that range; single-camera return-to-start behavior does not replace program playback rules.

Settings and edit scope

Control or conceptMeaning and boundary
PVW / previewChooses a camera to inspect; it does not imply a program take.
PGM / programStores cuts and camera references. Changing the chosen camera is not moving that camera.

Check the result

Cameras can be inspected at the same scene time, while the program follows its explicitly chosen cuts.

Troubleshooting and recovery

This draft currently has source, command and test evidence and still needs released-app GUI verification. The newly changed source-only action sample is not a released tutorial fixture.

If the result is unexpected, stop playback, check the selected item and time, and use Undo before making another change. Keep a backup rather than repeatedly overwriting the project.
