What this helps you do
Distinguish local autosave, project JSON and a complete bundle.
When to use it
You are changing computers, sharing an editable project, or preparing a recovery point before a major edit.
Before you begin
Use the desktop app and check the edition requirement: Basic. The current published version is shown above. Confirm the selected item and playhead before changing anything. This audit does not verify a physical Windows device.
Step by step
Screenshots: Mac v1.7.0 Follow each step with the real app interface below. Select an image to enlarge the marked area.
- Use Save before important edits and confirm the actual file name and location.
- 1Project name
- 2Save the complete project
Figure 1 Project name, Open, Save and Undo in the top bar. Save before making a major change. - When the project references images, audio or models, choose Project Backup in Export & Deliver and save a complete project bundle.
Figure 2 The complete project bundle under continue editing/back up carries referenced assets for migration. - Copy the bundle to the other computer, open it and inspect the scene, media and audio.
Figure 3 The complete project bundle under continue editing/back up carries referenced assets for migration. - Save current work before restoring an older version. Keep identifiable backups after major changes instead of relying on a single autosave.
Figure 4 Snapshots and change history. Save a separate copy of the current project before restoring one.
Complete bundles preserve mannequin variants, Blocking & performance, dialogue, camera references and program cuts. Check referenced media after reopening.
Changes in 1.6.0
A full project ZIP stores numbered resources in a flat layout rather than preserving the source folder tree; reopening restores them through project references. If the target file is moved or replaced outside the app, the next save explains the conflict instead of overwriting an unknown file. Reopen the moved full package or save a new backup. Read/write failures preserve the working project and provide an actionable error.
Changes in 1.7.0
Export & Deliver → Project Backup saves a complete bundle, retaining referenced audio, volume and offset. JSON alone does not package every asset. A documents ZIP under Storyboards & Materials is for production communication and does not replace an editable project backup. Save completion, cancellation and failure are reported separately; confirm the destination file and reopen it.
Settings and edit scope
| Control or concept | Meaning and boundary |
|---|---|
| Autosave | Lives in this app’s local data and is not cross-device synchronization. |
| Project JSON | Preserves structure and references but may not include media bytes. |
| Complete bundle | Carries referenced materials for continued editing. Still inspect the restored result. |
Check the result
You can reopen the saved backup with its referenced materials, while retaining access to earlier versions.
Troubleshooting and recovery
Do not delete app data to clean a license or restart a trial. You may lose unbacked projects and device identity.
If the result is unexpected, stop playback, check the selected item and time, and use Undo before making another change. Keep a backup rather than repeatedly overwriting the project.
Open project → inspect → edit → play → save → reopen → check export
