What this helps you do
Describe a concrete scene task and inspect what the assistant actually changes.
When to use it
You want AI-assisted scene edits with a step log you can inspect and changes you can recover.
Before you begin
Use the desktop app and check the edition requirement: Pro / active trial. The current published version is shown above. Confirm the selected item and playhead before changing anything. This audit does not verify a physical Windows device.
Step by step
Screenshots: Mac v1.7.0 Follow each step with the real app interface below. Select an image to enlarge the marked area.
- Open the intended project and choose Enable MCP service, then the adjacent help button.
Figure 1 Scene Assistant in the real Pro workbench. No model request was sent for this capture. - Copy the app-generated connection instructions to your external AI and use that client’s supported setup/reload method.
Figure 2 Configure the provider and model locally, then test the connection and tool calls. The API key field is empty. - Ask the AI to read the window, project and edit permission before requesting objects, actions, dialogue and cameras.
Figure 3 Describe the scene, objects and requested changes in the task field. Enter sends; Shift+Enter inserts a line break. - Inspect the actual scene and receipts; choose Stop AI and edit myself when needed, then save the full project.

Changes in 1.6.0
The daily edition now hides the in-app Smart workbench/SI entry. Connect an external AI through the desktop MCP control. Old configuration screenshots do not imply that the same public button remains available.
Settings and edit scope
| Control or concept | Meaning and boundary |
|---|---|
| Task description | Specify whether to add, modify or replace content so existing work is not misunderstood. |
| Edit protection | Manual editing is protected while AI is running. Stop it before making your own changes. |
| Model service | You configure third-party connectivity and costs. Model capabilities are not identical. |
Check the result
The step log matches real scene changes, without treating an empty answer or error as a completed build.
Troubleshooting and recovery
AI helps edit the project; it does not automatically produce a final video. SI is currently a hidden internal experiment, not a public entry point.
If the result is unexpected, stop playback, check the selected item and time, and use Undo before making another change. Keep a backup rather than repeatedly overwriting the project.
Keep learning
Include your app version, operating system and the error message. Never include your license or API key.
